The Law of the Tongue
A pact with the ocean
Oh dear old friend
Each autumn suspended in gray
Black fins swimming in circle
Around whale tails
Scarlet water, follow the red trail
A pact with the ocean
Boats wrapped in rain
Time always reveals
Peace, but it's ice in your veins
Knowing you have to feel everyone who leaves
Whales can be heard but nowhere to be seen
Why do I feel so broken yet so numb?
One day I’m wallowing in self pity
The next I’m hurting the ones that I love
Can we go stargazing offshore?
Creaks are the cries of vessels claimed by the sea
So, what is left? A form of nostalgia?
Or a heartbreak to be proud of?
A pact with the ocean
A tongue for a life
Spread death to survive
There's no garden in Eden, flesh is the price
Sea is just another sky
Trapped between two shades of gray
Black silhouettes beneath me
Oh dear old friend, sovereign of the sea
Lost inside my reflection
Red is the only contrast, I fear disconnection
They say that the water is always bluer on the other side
But everything’s black and white when you feel left behind
Watching the snow fall on the ocean
Of sailors and shores, broken promises
The water is stitched between us
Oh dear old friend
An hunter must hunt
Let the waves puncture your lungs
In my dreams we always drown together
This is the law
